Top Things To Do at Rainbow Beach

Rainbow Beach is home to one of the most incredible and colourful beaches in the world.

Rainbow Beach is a beautiful coastal town in Queensland, best known for its stunning beach, which has been crowned as one of the best in the world. The beach features beautiful golden sands stretching out over 23 kilometres.

Most visitors come for a day and wish they could stay longer, so we recommend spending at least a weekend exploring Rainbow Beach. Many even stay for a full week, falling in love with the outdoor lifestyle and abundance of activities.

With a great selection of activities to enjoy at Rainbow Beach, here are some of our favourites.

Things to do at Rainbow Beach

Snorkelling and diving

Rainbow Beach is a popular spot for snorkelling and diving. The clear, calm waters offer excellent underwater visibility. Don’t miss the Wolf Rock Dive, one of Australia’s best shark dives, where you can swim alongside sharks, rays, turtles, and even humpback whales during winter.

Swimming

If you prefer a relaxing dip, head to the patrolled areas near the Life Saving Club. Enjoy the beach and cool off in the water. Alternatively, visit the local pool or Seary’s Creek, a freshwater swimming spot and great picnic location.

Kayaking

Explore the water without getting wet by kayaking, given you don’t tip the kayak and flip into the water! Keep an eye out for dolphins that could end up swimming alongside you.

Four wheel driving

Experience driving along the coastline and admire the coloured sands. You’ll need a four wheel drive vehicle. Permits are required if you plan to drive to Double Island Point or Teewah Beach. Pay attention to signs indicating where driving is prohibited, especially in patrolled beach areas.

Horse rides

Even without riding experience, you can enjoy horse riding on the beautiful beach. Choose from beach rides, full moon rides, and countryside rides. Each experience includes instructions and photo opportunities along the trails.

Camping

Multiple camping areas are available along the beach. You can camp on the beach itself but be prepared for windy conditions. Otherwise, you can camp in the treelined areas.

Rainbow Beach offers abundant opportunities for travellers of all types. Whether you are looking for a relaxing beach getaway or thrilling outdoor activities, Rainbow Beach has something for everyone.
